Leicester City May Be on the Verge of Signing a Genuine ‘Wonderkid’

The term “wonderkid” may be overused, but it accurately describes Genk’s Bilal El Khannouss.

At just 20, the attacking midfielder has demonstrated remarkable talent, attracting interest from top clubs.

HLN reports that he has agreed on personal terms with Leicester City, who are now negotiating with Genk over the transfer fee.

Many anticipated that RB Leipzig would target the Moroccan after Dani Olmo’s departure, but they opted for Antonio Nusa from Brugge instead.

Leicester’s bid is reportedly between €15-20 million, a sum unlikely to persuade Genk to sell immediately but sufficient to start negotiations.

Transfermarkt values El Khannouss at €30 million, and Genk aims to exceed this figure.

The player is contracted until 2027, but Genk has anticipated his sale this summer. In his 94 appearances for the club, El Khannouss has scored four goals and provided 14 assists.

However, his contribution extends beyond these stats; he plays a crucial role in linking up play and is often involved in key attacking moves, frequently providing the crucial pass leading to an assist.

Securing El Khannouss would be a significant achievement for Leicester, given the level of interest from larger clubs.
