Leicester City Secure €18m Transfer Agreement for Striker Solution

Leicester City are reportedly set to finalize a loan agreement with an obligation to buy striker Adam Hlozek from Bayer Leverkusen.

Steve Cooper has been ‘desperate’ to bolster his squad, particularly seeking additional firepower for his forward line before next Monday’s Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.

With Jamie Vardy sidelined by a long-term injury and Patson Daka facing a fresh issue, the manager is left with limited options as the new season approaches.

Reports from Germany suggest the Foxes have found their solution.

Fabrizio Romano initially reported that the clubs were at an advanced stage of negotiations over the transfer.

This was confirmed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who quickly issued an update claiming a total agreement was in place between Leicester and the German club.

Subject to the agreement of personal terms with the player, Hlozek—who scored seven goals and provided five assists as part of Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga and German Cup double-winning side last season—is set to join on loan for the season before completing a permanent switch next summer. The deal is expected to cost the club around €17m to €18m (£14.5m to £15.4m).

A medical is expected to take place as the clubs aim to finalize the deal before the start of their respective 2024/25 campaigns.

Hlozek has made 80 appearances for Leverkusen since joining the club in 2022. Before that, he made 132 senior appearances for boyhood club Sparta Prague, scoring a career total of 62 goals between both clubs.

He has also earned 32 caps playing for the Czech Republic.
