Conor Coady Hints at Steve Cooper’s Plans for Leicester City

Steve Cooper is set to lead an evolution at Leicester City, building on the club’s existing foundations rather than overhauling them entirely. Appointed to guide City into the Premier League, Cooper takes over from Championship-winning boss Enzo Maresca. Despite last season’s success, Cooper plans to enhance, not dismantle, the current blueprint.

Conor Coady, after a week of pre-season training under Cooper, shared his insights on the new manager’s approach. The City centre-back noted that while Cooper aims to implement his own style, he is not seeking to start from scratch.

“My first impressions of the new gaffer and the coaching staff have been brilliant,” Coady told the club. “We’re working on a lot of new stuff under the new manager. It’s been great to listen to his ideas and the way he wants to play. It’s important to know that he doesn’t want to change a massive amount, but he wants to put his own stamp on it. We just want to kick on now.”

Coady is familiar with Cooper from their time at Liverpool. Cooper spent five years in various roles at Liverpool’s academy, eventually coaching the Under-18s before moving into the FA setup. This period coincided with Coady’s rise through Liverpool’s ranks.

“He’s a real hands-on manager,” Coady added. “He’s somebody who wants to talk to the lads constantly. He’s always around the boys. I’ve known him previously from my time when I was growing up at Liverpool. His love for the game is so intense when you go out there and you can see it resonates with the players with how he comes across in training. He’s been brilliant.”

With Cooper at the helm, Leicester City aims to build on their recent success while incorporating the new manager’s fresh ideas and strategies.
