Leicester City Submit £23m Bid for 23-Goal Striker Targeted by West Ham and Ipswich Town
Leicester City are in the market for a new centre-forward and are increasingly hopeful of securing a deal for 24-year-old Fotis Ioannidis.
Reports indicate that Leicester have submitted an offer worth around £23 million for the Greece international.
Leicester began their summer by selling midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea for £30 million.
They reinvested that sum into acquiring Issahaku Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, and Michael Golding.
However, with Kelechi Iheanacho leaving on a free transfer to join Sevilla, Leicester remain in urgent need of a striker.
Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka are still at the club, but new manager Steve Cooper is eager to bolster his attacking options with the addition of Ioannidis.
Star Striker Also Watched by West Ham and Ipswich Town
Ioannidis has drawn significant attention across Europe after scoring 23 goals in all competitions for Panathinaikos last season.
HITC reports that Ipswich Town previously engaged in talks for the Greek star, as Kieran McKenna’s side also seeks a new striker.
West Ham and Brentford have also monitored Ioannidis this summer but did not pursue their interest further.
Leicester are now looking to outpace their rivals and secure the talented forward’s signature.
With only three weeks remaining until the transfer window closes and one week until Leicester’s Premier League campaign begins with a match against Tottenham Hotspur, the club is keen to finalize the deal soon.
