Steve Cooper’s Tenure Begins in Earnest as Leicester City Takes on Tottenham Hotspur at King Power Stadium Tonight
Leicester City made their Premier League return, and Jamie Vardy marked it with a goal as Steve Cooper began his tenure at King Power Stadium with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The first half saw City struggling, lacking aggression and appearing hesitant in their return to top-flight football. Surprisingly, they only trailed by one goal at halftime.
The opening goal came in the 29th minute when Pedro Porro capitalized on a James Maddison cross to score with a header.
Maddison, a former Leicester player, was consistently troublesome for his old team.
Tottenham Hotspur dominated the early part of the second half, but Leicester gradually improved. Vardy equalized by heading in a cross from Abdul Fatawu.
The 37-year-old had a chance to put Leicester ahead but missed before being substituted. Wilfred Ndidi also had a few near-misses.
