According to a fresh report from The Independent, Everton are still pursuing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Ipswich Town and Fulham have also entered the race to sign the 28-year-old, who has become surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium.
Phillips has been a target for Everton all summer, and manager Sean Dyche may attempt to sign him as he looks to bolster the defensive midfield.
However, signing Kalvin Phillips will not be easy.
The 31-time capped England midfielder had a disappointing loan spell at West Ham during the January transfer window.
Pep Guardiola has made it clear that Phillips is not in his plans, omitting him even when Rodri was unavailable on Friday.
Phillips has only played 418 minutes of Premier League football under Guardiola, and a move away from the club seems imminent.
He has lost his place in England’s Euro 2024 squad and needs regular playing time elsewhere to regain his spot in the national team.
Phillips is on high wages, so he may need to accept a pay cut to join another Premier League club.
Additionally, he has a contract with City until 2028, meaning Everton would need to pay a transfer fee to lure him away.
It is unclear if City will agree to another loan move, as they likely prefer a permanent transfer.
