Everton have reportedly ended their pursuit of Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu ahead of the summer transfer deadline.
The Ghanaian international is considered one of manager Martí Cifuentes’ most important players as the new Championship season begins, and also one of the club’s most valuable assets.
There had been growing speculation that Leicester might be forced to sell the 21-year-old, with Everton among those showing interest. However, that possibility now appears unlikely.
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, the Toffees have been discouraged by Leicester’s asking price for Fatawu.
The winger has returned to full fitness after a serious knee ligament injury disrupted his previous campaign, but the two clubs remain far apart in their valuations.
As a result, Everton are said to be shifting their attention towards other targets, including Southampton prospect Tyler Dibling.
Fatawu has impressed in pre-season under Cifuentes, notably scoring a superb solo effort in the 2-0 victory over Fiorentina earlier this month.
During Leicester’s promotion-winning campaign two years ago, he played a pivotal role, netting six goals and providing 13 assists in his debut season.
Meanwhile, Sky has reduced the cost of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle by £192 ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, offering over 1,400 live matches from the Premier League, EFL, and more.
Next season, Sky will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League fixtures—up to 100 more than in previous years.
While Fatawu’s position at the King Power Stadium seems more secure, uncertainty surrounds the future of midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, who is attracting strong interest from Newcastle United.
In a post on X, Dorsett stated: “Everton currently unwilling to meet Leicester City’s demands for Abdul Fatawu.
The two clubs very divided on valuation and Everton now considering other options.
Leicester are more likely to sell El Khannouss as things stand, with interest in him from many clubs, including RB Leipzig, Leeds United and Crystal Palace. All monitoring.”
El Khannouss joined Leicester from Genk for around £19.5 million last summer and was a standout performer in an otherwise struggling Premier League side.
The Telegraph reports Newcastle are contemplating triggering his release clause, believed to be over £30 million, but must act quickly as it expires at the end of the week.
