View: Thelwell Poised to Make Offer for Everton-Linked Attacker Following New Signing Confirmation
Despite Off-Pitch Challenges, Everton Have Been Surprisingly Active in the Transfer Market This Summer
After making early moves in the transfer window by signing Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbubam, Everton have now added Napoli midfielder Jesper Lindstrom on an initial loan deal.
Should Lindstrom impress on Merseyside, Everton have the option to make his stay permanent next summer for £18.9 million, with a contract already agreed until the summer of 2029 [Fabrizio Romano, 26 July].
With this addition complete, manager Sean Dyche can shift focus to new targets. It would not be surprising to see Everton submit a renewed offer for Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto in the near future.
Gnonto, the Italian international, is reportedly interested in a move to Goodison Park and was previously linked with Everton last summer [Fabrizio Romano, 15 July].
Though no agreement has been reached between the two clubs yet, Everton is expected to increase their pursuit of Gnonto following Lindstrom’s signing [i News, 24 July].
With Lindstrom secured, Everton is now in a position to make an official bid for Gnonto and attempt to persuade Leeds to part with one of their key players.
Leeds are under no pressure to sell this summer, so any deal for Gnonto is likely to be costly. However, despite ongoing ownership issues, Everton reportedly have funds available for new signings.
Kevin Thelwell and his recruitment team are working diligently to finalize as many deals as possible before the new Premier League season begins.
It is likely they will intensify their efforts in the coming weeks. While nothing is confirmed yet, it is expected that Thelwell will make a serious offer to Leeds United soon.
