Leicester City youngster Kian Pennant heads out on loan in search of first-team experience

Leicester City have confirmed that promising forward Kian Pennant has joined Gateshead on a short-term loan deal, marking the first temporary move of his senior career.

The 21-year-old attacker, who has been part of Leicester’s Academy since the Under-9 level, will spend the next month with the National League side.

The Foxes officially announced the move on Friday afternoon, stating that the deal is subject to league approval.

In their statement, Leicester praised Pennant as a “talented young Development Squad forward” known for his remarkable pace, strong left foot, and attacking instinct.

The club added that the loan will give him valuable first-team experience in senior football — a crucial step in his development after excelling at youth level.

Pennant was among 11 Leicester youngsters who signed professional contracts in the summer of 2024, highlighting the club’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent.

This season, he has featured in the Premier League International Cup for Leicester’s Under-21s, where he notably scored against Juventus’ youth team.

He will now look to continue his progress with Gateshead, who face Aveley in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round this weekend before returning to league action against Brackley Town.
