Despite an impending points deduction, many pundits still regard Leicester City as strong contenders for promotion this season.

Cifuentes, speaking to Leicestershire Live, expressed confidence in his goalkeeping options, noting that Begovic will provide valuable experience and leadership as a backup.

“I’m very pleased with the quality of the goalkeepers we have at the club right now,” Cifuentes said.

“We’ve got a good combination of young keepers hungry to improve, and with Asmir, we’re adding leadership and a professional mindset to the group.

The club has generated roughly £10 million from the sales of Coady and Ndidi, while also reducing the wage bill by letting several players leave at the end of their contracts.

However, Cifuentes still has more players on the books than he would prefer, leading EFL Analysis’ chief football correspondent Graeme Bailey to predict minimal incoming transfers.

With major signings unlikely, Cifuentes appears ready to place his trust in youth. Alongside Stolarczyk’s promotion, the manager plans to integrate more academy products into the first team.

One such player is Louis Page, a promising midfielder who, according to Leicestershire Live, is set to feature prominently this season.

Discussing his midfield options, Cifuentes explained: “Looking at the squad, in terms of both numbers and quality, for the 6, 8, and 10 positions we have more than six or seven players.

That’s more than enough in my view. The coming days and weeks will reveal whether we bring in another player there or not.

“What is certain is that I want to give these players the chance to show what they can do. Over the last days—in training and in the friendly against Fiorentina—I’ve seen a lot of positives. We’ve got players who can perform in different roles.

For example, Skippy can operate as a 6 or an 8. Louis Page, still young, can play as an 8 or a 10. I believe we have a good mix of players capable of covering multiple positions.”

Cifuentes’ strategy is clear: rather than relying on a wave of new signings, he will look to change the atmosphere at the club by developing and trusting young talent.

If his young players can rise to the challenge, Leicester may yet defy expectations and make a strong push for promotion—despite the off-field obstacles looming over the season.
