Report: West Ham Could Sign ‘Promising’ Striker Compared to Jamie Vardy for Just £16.8m

West Ham United could sign a ‘promising’ striker likened to Jamie Vardy for just £16.8 million, according to a recent report.
The Hammers have been active in the summer transfer window, already signing talented Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme. With Julen Lopetegui brought in to advance David Moyes’ squad and aim for a return to Europe after missing out last term, the club is set to invest heavily this window. A new rumor links a striker to the London Stadium.
Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that West Ham is interested in Braga striker Simon Banza. The 27-year-old had an outstanding season in Portugal’s top flight, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists, aiding his team to a fourth-place finish.
Banza, whose playing style is similar to Jamie Vardy’s, has a £33.7 million release clause in his contract. However, it’s claimed he could leave for just £16.8 million. Marseille and AS Roma are monitoring the eight-cap DR Congo international.
West Ham will likely need to offer Banza a substantial salary to secure his signature, as he also attracts interest from the Middle East. Reports suggest he might reject European offers to move to Saudi Arabia, which could force the Hammers to look elsewhere.
A critical few weeks lie ahead for the East London club.
