Bobby De Cordova-Reid is a strong candidate to step in for the suspended Aaron Ramsey when Leicester City face Coventry, with manager Marti Cifuentes identifying him as a natural fit for the number 10 role.

The 32-year-old attacker returned to action on Saturday, making his first appearance since April as a substitute at Oxford after recovering from an injury picked up while playing for Jamaica during the summer.

De Cordova-Reid endured a difficult debut season at Leicester, struggling to impress during their disappointing Premier League campaign.

However, Cifuentes has spoken highly of his qualities, praising both his professionalism and tactical intelligence.

While primarily used as a wide player last season, De Cordova-Reid has been deployed in training behind the striker.

With Ramsey suspended for three games following his red card, that position is now vacant for the weekend clash.

Both had been sidelined while others in the squad took their opportunities to cement themselves in Cifuentes’ plans.

But the Leicester boss insists there will be opportunities for them to prove their worth, with De Cordova-Reid likely to get his chance sooner rather than later.

“It’s always the toughest part of football for any player, being injured,” Cifuentes explained. “You feel distant from the squad, unable to train and contribute in matches.

That’s been Victor’s situation as well. But now both are back in contention, and that’s very positive for us.”
