West Ham United Among Several Top Clubs Offered Donyell Malen by Borussia Dortmund This Month, Reports TBR Football
The online source reveals that Donyell Malen, currently out of favor at Borussia Dortmund, has been offered to Aston Villa, West Ham, Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest.
The 25-year-old Dutch international, valued at £25 million and contracted until 2026, may depart the Bundesliga club in January.
West Ham, who signed £27 million striker Niclas Fullkrug from Dortmund last summer, could reopen talks with the German club if Malen becomes available this month.
However, the Irons’ transfer interest might be cautious, given Fullkrug’s underwhelming performance so far.
Despite West Ham’s struggles in attack this season, their wide options are plentiful.
Manager Julen Lopetegui has a wealth of talent, including Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Paquetá, Mohammed Kudus, Luis Guilherme, and captain Jarrod Bowen.
As a result, adding Malen might not be a priority unless there is a significant departure, such as Kudus leaving in January.
On the other hand, West Ham’s issues lie deeper in their midfield and defense, which have frequently been exposed this season.
Addressing these vulnerabilities is likely to be a greater focus for Lopetegui during the transfer window.
While Malen’s availability presents an intriguing opportunity, signing him over reinforcing other critical areas might raise questions about West Ham’s priorities.
