Leicester Targets “Phenomenal” Manager as Alternative to Manning and Martin, Seen as His ‘Ideal Move’

Leicester City are reportedly targeting former Everton manager Sean Dyche as their next head coach, aiming to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

After a dismal 2024/25 campaign, the Foxes were relegated to the EFL Championship, collecting only 22 points despite making a mid-season managerial change from Steve Cooper to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The club’s leadership is determined to ensure their stay in the second tier lasts only one season, and Dyche has emerged as a strong candidate to lead that push.

According to Nixon’s report on Patreon, certain figures within the Leicester hierarchy believe Dyche’s experience and track record make him the ideal choice to guide them back to the top flight.

Although the club had considered long-term project managers such as Southampton’s Russell Martin or Bristol City’s Liam Manning, a more results-driven approach is now favoured—particularly from a financial standpoint.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s position appears uncertain regardless, with GIVEMESPORT sources suggesting a managerial change is imminent.

Dyche’s Championship credentials are compelling; during his time at Burnley, he achieved promotion twice—first in 2013/14 and again in 2015/16, winning the title on the second occasion.

He also led Burnley to a seventh-place Premier League finish in 2017/18, securing European football for the club for the first time in over five decades.

His ability to handle adversity was further proven at Everton, where he helped the club avoid relegation despite significant points deductions due to Financial Fair Play violations. Dyche has previously been praised as a “phenomenal” coach.

Nixon adds that Dyche was even open to replacing Van Nistelrooy during the season, and while that move didn’t materialize, a potential appointment remains very much on the table.
