Since earning a spot in the starting lineup, Jake O’Brien has been outstanding for Everton.
Under Dyche, he was limited to brief appearances from the bench, but Moyes has turned him into a key figure in the backline.
According to the Liverpool Echo, O’Brien has been working on additional training sessions with assistant coach Leighton Baines.
Tasked with improving the attacking contributions of Everton’s fullbacks, Baines’ coaching has significantly benefited the Republic of Ireland international.
Despite being a natural centre-back, O’Brien has enhanced his attacking skills and ball-carrying ability, netting twice this year.
O’Brien Praises Baines’ Impact
O’Brien has spoken highly of Baines’ influence, emphasizing the importance of the training drills focused on chance creation.
“That is part of the training we are working on, getting into the final third and creating chances,” the 23-year-old said.
“I think we have shown that today—we were just unlucky not to finish them.
Leighton (Baines) has played a big role, along with all the coaches, in working on attacking and defending aspects.”
Although O’Brien has been playing as a right-back, his height and physique make him well-suited to a centre-back role.
He may revert to his natural position after Everton finalizes their summer transfer business.
The club has also been linked with Kyle Walker-Peters, who will be out of contract at Southampton at the end of June.
