Premier League club plans bid for Leeds player in latest transfer twist – Alex Crook

Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating a bid for Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray.

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a last-minute bid to hijack a deal for Leeds United’s 18-year-old versatile midfielder, Archie Gray, who is set to undergo a medical at Brentford. Leeds has agreed to a deal with Brentford worth around £40 million, including add-ons. However, while Brentford leads the race, the transfer is not finalized yet.

Reportedly, Tottenham, along with Chelsea, has shown interest in signing Gray, with Spurs potentially matching Brentford’s offer, making the situation more intriguing. Gray was a key player for Leeds last season, helping them reach the play-off finals, where they lost to Southampton. He made 47 Championship appearances under Daniel Farke. Despite being a significant loss for Leeds, the club needs to sell to comply with PSR regulations.

Gray, from the renowned Gray family with a legendary status at Elland Road, has been offered a contract worth £75,000 a week. If the transfer proceeds, he will become Brentford’s record signing. This deal is seen as a financial gain for Leeds, as Gray is homegrown, making any earnings from his sale pure profit.

Alongside Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and West Ham are also in the mix for Gray, but Tottenham is expected to make a decisive move within the next 24 hours.
