Crysencio Summerville is anticipated to depart Leeds this summer, and recent reports suggest Brighton are leading the race for his signature. Journalist Graeme Bailey asserts that the Seagulls are at the forefront to secure the 22-year-old, with Liverpool having withdrawn from the race and Chelsea yet to make a formal approach, despite longstanding interest.
Summerville had a standout season at Leeds, contributing 21 goals and 10 assists in his first full season of regular football. However, the failure to achieve promotion makes his departure likely, as the club seeks financial stability primarily through player sales. While valuations have varied in reports, Bailey believes Leeds could command a fee in the region of £30 million, a substantial increase from the £1.5 million spent when Summerville was signed in 2020.
“I think Leeds will be closer to £30 million than £40 million, certainly not £40 million,” Bailey commented to Leeds United News. “Brighton is keen on him; they’re looking for a wide player after the Ansu Fati deal didn’t work out. Liverpool has stepped back from the chase, and Chelsea, although monitoring him, haven’t made a move. It seems Brighton is firmly in the lead. Summerville may not yet be at Chelsea’s desired level, but that’s how things are shaping up.”
