Journalist Venê Casagrande has confirmed that midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is set to join Everton, with the transfer progressing swiftly.
Alcaraz emerged as a surprise target for Everton on Friday night when reports suddenly surfaced that the club had secured a loan deal for him.
Flamengo later confirmed the agreement, and it has now been revealed that the player is flying to England for a medical on Sunday before officially signing.
The deal is structured as a loan until the end of the season but includes a mandatory purchase clause.
This clause will be triggered once Alcaraz meets certain straightforward conditions—reportedly, he only needs to play eight matches for it to activate.
While the exact value of the clause has not been publicly disclosed, Flamengo originally paid €20m to sign Alcaraz from Southampton last summer.
Casagrande has now confirmed that Everton’s obligation to buy aligns closely with that figure.
“He will be bought by Everton. The club is obligated to complete the purchase,” Casagrande stated on his YouTube channel.
“Flamengo have a clause protecting themselves, and this deal is essentially a sale disguised as a loan. Such arrangements are common in European football.
According to sources inside Flamengo, Everton will pay nearly the same amount Flamengo spent to sign Alcaraz last year—around $20m.”
With Alcaraz’s move imminent, Everton look set to strengthen their midfield options as they push for a strong finish to the season.
