PL Club Prefers to Sell ‘Outstanding’ Player Instead of Loaning Him; Leeds Interested – Romano

Since their relegation in May 2023, Leeds have been active in the transfer market but have missed out on several targets for one main reason.
The existing quality within the squad makes it difficult for Leeds to guarantee immediate regular playing time, prompting clubs to send their players elsewhere.

Fabio Carvalho’s January move to Hull City exemplifies this issue, as do the recent cases of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Hugo Bueno.
Given this challenge, Leeds might benefit from focusing on the permanent transfer market during the remaining two-and-a-half weeks of the window. This strategy could aid them in securing potential targets.
Chelsea’s Stance on Leeds Target Bashir Humphreys Revealed
Leeds are still aiming to sign three more players before the transfer window closes, targeting positions in central midfield, full-back, and winger.
Jonathan Rowe is the primary target for the winger role, while Leeds are exploring other midfield options after being priced out of a move for Dejan Ljubicic.
Defensive links have been scarce since failing to sign Bueno from Wolves, but Leeds have shown interest in Chelsea’s Bashir Humphreys.

According to Fabrizio Romano, both Leeds and Burnley have expressed ‘concrete’ interest in the 21-year-old, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge soon.
In what could be favorable news for Leeds, Chelsea prefers to sell Humphreys permanently, avoiding the need for discussions about game time that would arise with a loan deal.
The asking price for Humphreys is currently unclear, but he still has three years left on his contract.
Who Is Leeds Target Humphreys and Where Would He Fit?
Humphreys, a product of Chelsea’s academy, has yet to break into the first team and has had two loan spells—first in Germany with SC Paderborn and more recently at Swansea City last season.
He is primarily a left-footed center-back, a position where Leeds already have Pascal Struijk and Max Wober.
However, Humphreys is also capable of playing as a full-back, and Daniel Farke may see him as a defensive option for that role.
Described as ‘outstanding,’ Humphreys could provide valuable versatility and defensive strength to Leeds’ squad.
