German outlet SportsBild hailed Kleindienst as “the Italian terror” after his involvement in all three of Germany’s first-half goals. Awarding him an A grade, the publication wrote:
“He tore through the Italian defense, pressed relentlessly, and played a key role in all three first-half goals.
He won the penalty for the opening goal, forced a crucial corner with a powerful header for the second, and then scored the third with another header.”
Could Kleindienst Be Calvert-Lewin’s Successor?
As Moyes looks to push Everton up the Premier League table, signing a reliable striker could be key.
Calvert-Lewin’s struggles continue, with just three goals and one assist in 22 league appearances this season.
With no contract agreement in place, the 11-cap England international seems likely to depart before the club’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
Meanwhile, Kleindienst has been in exceptional form, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 25 matches.
His international exploits further highlight his credentials, with four goals in his first six caps for Germany.
A move to the Premier League comes with no guarantees, but given Everton’s attacking struggles, securing Kleindienst could be a much-needed upgrade over the injury-plagued and out-of-form Calvert-Lewin.
