Man City Youngster Could Be a January Transfer Target for Leeds

Former Leeds manager Simon Grayson recently urged the club to address a key issue during the summer transfer window and continues to stand by his assessment, stressing the team’s lack of ruthlessness in the final third.

“Before the transfer window closed, I said Leeds needed a creative No.10 to orchestrate play in midfield,” Grayson told The Football League Paper. “I still believe that’s necessary, even just to add competition for places.

However, there’s more than enough quality in the team to secure promotion.”

“What they truly need is composure and ruthlessness in the final third.

Time and again, you see them dominate possession and create chances, but it’s as though they’re always aiming for the perfect goal.

They haven’t scored from outside the box in a long time, and it’s been months since they netted from a set-piece. You don’t always have to walk the ball into the net.”

Over the summer, Leeds were keen to bring in a playmaker for manager Daniel Farke, but they missed out on key targets.

As the January window approaches, the club may revisit their options to strengthen the squad.

One potential target is Manchester City’s James McAtee.

Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear previously revealed the club’s interest in the young midfielder, and LeedsLive notes that a loan move could still be on the table come January.

“The Whites also showed an interest in Manchester City youngster James McAtee, who spent time on loan at Sheffield United,” the outlet reports.

“A loan move for the England youth international is not out of the question in the January transfer window if Leeds aims to bolster their promotion push.”

McAtee has made three appearances across all competitions this season.

If his playing time doesn’t increase in the coming months, a potential departure in January might be a possibility.
