“Man City’s SHOCKING Jack Grealish Salary Ultimatum Leaves Everton SCRAMBLING to Seal Loan Deal!”
Manchester City are insisting that any club interested in signing Jack Grealish on loan must agree to pay his full wages, amid reports linking Everton with the out-of-favour midfielder.
Grealish, capped 39 times by England, has been exploring an exit route from the Etihad throughout the summer.
Despite his availability, interest in the 29-year-old has been limited. However, fresh reports on Wednesday indicated that Everton had approached City regarding a possible loan deal.
According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, the Premier League champions will only approve a move if Grealish’s full salary is covered.
The midfielder currently earns around £300,000 per week—more than twice the wage of Everton’s top earner, Jordan Pickford.
That financial demand could discourage the Toffees’ hierarchy and manager Sean Dyche, but with the club having missed out on Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, Grealish could now become their primary target.
As per Football Insider, Grealish has reportedly told close friends that he is “open” to leaving City and finds the idea of joining Everton “exciting.”
The allure of regular first-team football and the prestige of Everton’s new stadium are believed to be key factors in his interest.
Grealish is keen to avoid being reduced to a squad role and wants to return to consistent action.
Despite making 157 appearances for City, Grealish has not featured in any of their pre-season matches this summer and was notably left out of the squad for the Club World Cup.
Prior to the tournament, City manager Pep Guardiola commented that Grealish needed to rediscover his hunger to play frequently, saying, “He has to have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days.”
Guardiola continued: “He had a conversation with the club, and we made the decision together. Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason he didn’t feature more last season was my choice.
We agreed it was best for him to stay behind and find a space where he can work on getting back to his top form—the way he was during our treble-winning season or during his time at Aston Villa.”
Grealish joined Manchester City from Villa in 2021 for a British record £100 million.
Since then, he has collected an impressive trophy haul, including three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, a UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup.
However, his recent absence from the first team has affected his international career, with his last appearance for England coming in a Nations League game against Finland last October. He was also left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.
