With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, Oumar Solet (24) is a player to watch this transfer window as RB Salzburg looks to capitalize on their French center-back’s desire for a new challenge.
Four years after departing Olympique Lyonnais, where he had limited opportunities to showcase his talent, Solet is eager to elevate his career. Despite not being called up by Thierry Henry for the upcoming Olympics, the former French U20 international is attracting significant interest. Last winter, he was close to joining RC Lens and Napoli, and Lens has renewed its interest, seeing him as an ideal successor to Kevin Danso. However, securing Solet’s signature appears increasingly difficult due to intense competition.
Premier League clubs West Ham United and Liverpool have shown interest in recent months, and now other European giants are also targeting him. Having expressed his desire to leave Salzburg this summer, Solet is enticed by the prospect of Champions League football. According to RMC Sport, Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, second-placed Stuttgart, and Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund are all tracking Solet with an eye toward a summer transfer. The Bundesliga is a common destination for players from the Austrian league, yet Solet is also tempted by the Premier League, with Manchester United reportedly adding him to their shortlist. Additionally, another unnamed Premier League club has expressed interest.
Salzburg is expected to permit Solet’s departure if they receive an offer between €12 million and €15 million.
