Tottenham Hotspur’s loan players experienced mixed fortunes as they returned to their respective clubs following the international break.

 

Spurs have a total of 10 players currently out on loan across the Football League and Spain after a busy summer transfer window that saw Ange Postecoglou’s squad undergo a major overhaul.

 

These players are either gaining valuable experience, trying to impress Postecoglou or their temporary managers, or seeking permanent moves elsewhere.

 

One notable exception is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is on loan at Marseille with an obligation to sign permanently, so his performances are less relevant to Spurs’ future plans.

Manor Solomon (Leeds United) Manor Solomon’s second match for Leeds United was far from the success of his debut.

 

 

A key moment came when the left winger slipped at the end of the first half, allowing Burnley’s Luca Koleosho to run down the open flank and score the only goal in a 1-0 defeat at Elland Road.

 

Despite this, Solomon remained active, setting up opportunities for his teammates, but none could capitalize.

 

The 25-year-old was substituted after 78 minutes. Leeds Live gave him a player rating of six, stating: “Very unfortunate to slip when he did in what proved to be the decisive moment of the match.

 

Otherwise, he looked like United’s best player in attack. Speed of feet and thought will hurt a lot of opponents this season.”

 

Bryan Gil (Girona) Bryan Gil had a challenging day after an impressive start at Girona.

 

In Sunday’s 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona, Gil was substituted just nine minutes into the second half with the visitors already 3-0 up.

 

He missed a big chance in first-half injury time, shooting straight at the goalkeeper from six yards out. After Barcelona’s Dani Olmo scored the third goal, Gil’s involvement ended early.

 

After the match, Gil posted on Instagram: “Time to be united and bring out our best in what is coming. This doesn’t stop, LET’S GO @gironafc.”

 

Alejo Veliz (Espanyol) Alejo Veliz made his fifth consecutive start for Espanyol, but the 20-year-old striker couldn’t replicate his heroics from the previous match.

 

Although Espanyol won 3-2 against Alaves on Saturday, Veliz was substituted in the 57th minute with his team leading 2-1.

 

His performance was unusual, as he only touched the ball eight times in nearly an hour, completed one pass, had one shot, and lost the ball three times.

Dane Scarlett (Oxford United) Dane Scarlett’s struggle for minutes continued, as he watched Oxford United’s 1-0 victory over Stoke from the bench.

 

This marked the third consecutive Championship match where the 19-year-old was an unused substitute.

 

Oxford are now out of the Carabao Cup, so Scarlett will look ahead to their next league match against Bristol City on Saturday for an opportunity to get back on the pitch.
