Report: 6’1″ Player Pursued by Sean Dyche for Two Weeks Now Eager to Join Everton

"Everton's Summer Window Starts Strong, Quiet After Busy June with Three Deals"

Everton’s involvement in the Jaden Philogene saga has significantly influenced their transfer strategy, leaving them without a winger and prompting Director of Football Kevin Thelwell to explore alternative options. While Thelwell and manager Sean Dyche deliberate on the best candidate to fill this gap, Thelwell remains active in pursuing other signings for different positions.

One of Everton’s long-term targets, Jackson Tchatchoua, is reportedly eager to join the club. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (13/07, page 22), Everton maintains strong interest in Tchatchoua, who currently plays for Hellas Verona. Described as an “airport” due to the high turnover of players, Hellas Verona seems poised to lose Tchatchoua as the Toffees intensify their pursuit.

Earlier reports indicated Everton’s “serious” interest in Tchatchoua, and the latest updates not only confirm this but also reveal the player’s desire to move to Goodison Park. The 22-year-old is attracted by the significant step up to the Premier League, and Dyche has been pursuing him for nearly two weeks.

Jackson Tchatchoua began his youth career with Standard Liege before moving to Charleroi, where he made his senior debut and accumulated 64 first-team appearances. Born in Belgium but of Cameroonian descent, Tchatchoua was selected to represent Cameroon at the U23 level in March 2023 and made his senior debut in a World Cup qualifier the following year. Although he has only one international cap, the 6-foot-1 player is expected to earn many more.

Despite his young age, Tchatchoua has already proven himself a seasoned player. A loan spell at Hellas Verona last season showcased his abilities in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He primarily played as a right-back but occasionally took on a more advanced role, contributing to a mid-table finish for Verona.

As Everton emerges as the primary suitor for Tchatchoua, it will be intriguing to see if he can elevate his game further in the Premier League. His potential move to Everton represents another opportunity for him to prove his talents on a bigger stage.
