Everton Miss Out on Jaden Philogene Signing from Aston Villa, Reports Fabrizio Romano

Writing on his personal X account on Wednesday night (8 January), Fabrizio Romano reported that 22-year-old Jaden Philogene is set to undergo a medical at Ipswich Town on Thursday morning (9 January).
Everton had reportedly made a significant bid to sign the former Hull City attacker.
However, Ipswich have agreed on a £21 million fee, plus add-ons, with Aston Villa. Philogene is now traveling to Suffolk to finalize his move to the Tractor Boys.

Everton Miss Out on Jaden Philogene
Everton continue to face challenges when competing in the transfer market.
Ipswich, promoted to the Premier League last season, are in a stronger financial position, unlike Everton, who have long struggled to comply with Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) rules.
Sean Dyche’s uncertain future at Everton may also have influenced Philogene’s decision.
Why would a player commit to a club when the manager’s position could change in the coming days?
Philogene’s medical is now booked, and unless there are issues with his checks or a late collapse in negotiations, he is set to become the latest addition to Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich side.
According to Romano, McKenna played a pivotal role in convincing Philogene to join Ipswich, highlighting the importance of stable and clear managerial leadership when securing key signings.
This transfer underscores Ipswich’s growing ambition as they strengthen their squad for the challenges of Premier League football.
