Newcastle United seem to have pursued their long-standing interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as reports indicate they have started negotiations with both Everton and the player.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United have intensified their interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin and are now in negotiations with both Everton and the player. Despite having much work to do in reaching agreements with both parties, there is optimism in the northeast that a deal can be struck, especially since the player is reportedly keen.
Paul Joyce of The Times reports that Everton is seeking around £35m to £37m for Calvert-Lewin. With only 12 months remaining on his contract, Calvert-Lewin has an offer to extend his stay at Everton but also presents a potential profit for the club if he decides to move on instead of signing new terms.
While Everton has yet to receive an official bid, other clubs, including Chelsea and West Ham, have shown interest, and AC Milan is now looking at him as a possible replacement for Olivier Giroud.
As part of the negotiations between Everton and Newcastle, 19-year-old Gambian winger Yankuba Minteh might move to Goodison Park. Minteh spent last season on loan at Feyenoord and has caught the attention of several clubs. Roma, linked with a €30m move, is a serious suitor, while Marseille, Borussia Dortmund, and Lyon have also shown concrete interest.
Bakary Bojang, Minteh’s agent, told Chronicle Live that the player has already agreed on personal terms with one club. The decision now lies with Newcastle to finalize a deal with the purchasing club, which is not believed to be Everton.
