Michail Antonio’s Road to Recovery After Car Accident

The football world was stunned when news broke of Michail Antonio’s road accident on December 7.

Images of his wrecked Ferrari quickly spread on social media, leaving fans deeply concerned.

The Jamaica international had to be airlifted to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for a broken foot.

However, he was discharged later in December and has now moved on to the next phase of his recovery.

Antonio Heads to Dubai for Rehab

After returning home in December, Antonio flew to Dubai on February 7 to continue his rehabilitation, as reported by West Ham insider Sean Whetstone.

The 34-year-old will spend two weeks at a specialist rehab facility in the United Arab Emirates, where Niclas Füllkrug is also recovering. West Ham has an existing partnership with this facility.

Antonio is expected back in England on February 20 and will be at the London Stadium as a guest of honor for West Ham’s match against Leicester on February 27.

Plans are already in place to unveil a “giant” Antonio tifo at the game, with Ironwork Alliance raising funds for the tribute.

West Ham Weighing New Contract for Antonio

Antonio’s current contract at the London Stadium expires at the end of the season, but West Ham is considering offering him a new deal to support his recovery.

The club previously extended Angelo Ogbonna’s contract under similar circumstances after a long-term injury.

Since Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui as head coach in January, Antonio has visited Rush Green several times, according to The Sun.

While he remains eager to return to Premier League action, he is expected to be sidelined for at least a few more months.
