Mike Dean clarifies the decision to disallow James Tarkowski’s goal in Everton’s match against Fulham on Saturday.
Everton thought they had broken the deadlock in the 42nd minute when James Tarkowski turned in a rebound, but the goal was swiftly ruled out for offside, leaving the Blues frustrated.

Responding to Sue Smith’s uncertainty during the broadcast on 8 November, Dean explained: “Keane’s not offside.
When the ball comes in from Grealish, it’s flicked on by Tarkowski to Ndiaye at the back post. He’s just offside.”
Everton’s frustration didn’t last long, though, as Idrissa Gueye finally found the breakthrough just before half-time.
The midfielder smashed home from close range after a goalmouth scramble, giving David Moyes’ side a deserved lead heading into the break.
