Leeds Receive New Premier League Offer for ‘Very Expensive’ Star – Report

West Ham Submit Transfer Offer for Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville, Reports Fabrizio Romano

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via X on 22 July that West Ham have approached the winger and his representatives. However, a deal is not close due to the high cost of signing the Dutchman this summer. Roma are also interested if they fail to land Matias Soulé.

Summerville is in high demand after an impressive season under Daniel Farke, with Rennes expected to enter into intense negotiations to add him alongside Glen Kamara in Ligue 1 [L’Equipe, 16 July].

The Leeds United star is also wanted by Brighton amid Chelsea and Liverpool interest. Daniel Farke’s side was expected to see notable departures this summer after failing to gain promotion, and Summerville, 22, seemed likely to be top of the list.

After scoring 21 goals in all competitions last season, he has drawn transfer interest from Chelsea and Liverpool [Sun, 28 May], while Brighton made an offer earlier in the summer [Romano, 17 June]. Had Summerville been sold at the start of the window, it might have helped Leeds guard against further key departures.

However, with Archie Gray now at Tottenham, Kamara in France, and Everton circling to land Willy Gnonto after a year of trying [Sky Sports, 15 July], the situation is more complicated. Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle’s arrivals are positive, and the loan move for Joe Rothwell adds depth.

But the attack hasn’t seen any reinforcements yet, and the new Championship season is just around the corner. Summerville may end up being retained, similar to how Gnonto was last year, if the right bid doesn’t materialize.

However, there is a clear risk of a late exit that would leave little time to find an adequate replacement.
