MOT View: Leeds Decides on Bamford’s Departure Ahead of Transfer Deadline Following Farke’s Statement

Most of Leeds United’s major outgoing transfers have already been completed, with players like Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, and Georginio Rutter leaving Elland Road for substantial fees.

However, one player that Farke’s side reportedly still wants to offload before the transfer window closes is Patrick Bamford. The forward’s future with Leeds remains uncertain [Daily Mail, 16 May].

So far, there has been minimal interest in the former England international, and recent developments at Elland Road might have made Leeds’ decision regarding his future for them.

Will Patrick Bamford leave Leeds United after recent transfer speculation?

When the team news was announced at Hillsborough for the match against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night (23 August), Bamford’s name was absent from both the starting lineup and the substitutes’ bench.

Farke later confirmed that Bamford had been sidelined due to a minor hamstring injury. Although he isn’t expected to be out for an extended period, this injury might cause him to miss the upcoming match against Hull City [Graham Smyth, 23 August].

Leeds United is scheduled to play Hull City at Elland Road on Saturday, 31 August, just before the international break and the close of the summer transfer window.

If Bamford is doubtful for the Hull match, it’s unlikely he’ll be fit enough to secure a transfer to a new club before the end of August.

Therefore, he seems likely to remain a Leeds United player when September begins.

While some fans may be disappointed if Bamford doesn’t leave Elland Road this summer, it seems Farke might be reluctant to let him go in the final days of the transfer window.

With Rutter’s departure, Farke’s attacking options are now severely limited.
