“Negotiations Ongoing: Newcastle United in Talks for Key January Signing – Fabrizio Romano”
No Updates Yet on First-Team Signings as Newcastle Secure Promising Talent for Under-21s

Newcastle United are not expected to make significant signings this January, as the transfer window is primarily aimed at raising funds for summer acquisitions.
However, some business will be conducted, not all of which involves signing new players.
Several squad members are out of contract in the summer, and while many could leave if not sold for a small fee this month, one player is already in talks for an extension.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Newcastle and Fabian Schär are negotiating a new deal. Romano reported on X:
“⚪️⚫️ Understand Newcastle are stepping up efforts in talks over new deal for Fabian Schär.

Negotiations underway and advancing well as Newcastle want to make it happen and keep Schär at the club.”
Schär remains a key player for Eddie Howe. Currently Newcastle’s only fit right-sided centre-back, Schär has been a consistent presence in the team.
Despite being suspended for the matches against Tottenham and Arsenal, he has played a crucial role throughout the season.
At 32, Schär is advancing in age by football standards, but his importance to Newcastle’s playing style cannot be overstated.
Replacing him would be challenging, and the club seems determined to avoid that situation for now.
Fortunately, a contract extension appears imminent, ensuring that Schär will remain a vital part of Newcastle’s plans beyond the summer.
