Pundit makes ‘Carnage’ Claim About Daniel Farke at Leeds Following Recent Performances
Sam Parkin claims Daniel Farke lacks a plan B at Leeds United, often relying on his forwards to create "carnage."
Leeds United bounced back from last week’s defeat to Millwall with a 2-0 win over QPR at Elland Road on Saturday, November 9, with goals from Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe.
However, their performance lacked intensity, leaving some fans unimpressed.
Parkin suggested this might reflect a gap in manager Daniel Farke’s tactical approach compared to some of his current and former Championship counterparts.
Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast on Monday, November 11, Parkin said, “I think the sense is that Daniel Farke just lacks a little bit of a plan B… maybe the tactical acumen of other managers Leeds have had or others in the Championship in recent seasons.”
He added, “We probably saw that in the playoff final against Southampton. Sometimes it feels a bit like, ‘we have talented forwards, go create chaos and win the game,’ so it may be a product of that style.”
Despite this, Farke’s approach against QPR shouldn’t be overly scrutinized, as Leeds may have felt comfortable facing a team struggling with relegation and winless since August.
His choice to start the out-of-form Manor Solomon over Dan James indicated a relaxed attitude towards the fixture.
Solomon’s struggles made it seem as though Leeds were playing with 10 men, yet they still secured a routine victory.
Currently, Leeds sit third in the Championship after 15 games, just two points behind first-place Sunderland, positioning them as serious contenders for automatic promotion.
To solidify their standing, however, they must avoid unnecessary losses and draws.
Although they’ve only lost two games—the same as Sunderland and Sheffield United above them—the five games they’ve drawn have cost them valuable points.
There’s little doubt that Farke has a squad capable of achieving automatic promotion this season.
Leeds will need to maintain focus and consistency to stay within reach of the top two spots, ensuring that they capitalize on their strengths and minimize avoidable slip-ups in their campaign for promotion.
