According to Spanish journalist Ángel Garcia, the Magpies are ready to trigger the 24-year-old’s £25 million release clause and are ‘very close’ to finalising a deal to fend off interest from other elite clubs.

Guillem Balagué, a pundit for CBS and the BBC, has stated that Newcastle, Arsenal, and Aston Villa are all keen on Garcia, while Barcelona are also said to be monitoring his situation.

Garcia has played a pivotal role for Espanyol this season, helping keep the club five points above the La Liga relegation zone despite their recent 2-0 loss to champions Barcelona.

His performances have earned widespread praise, and he was also part of the Spain squad that won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. In addition, he has represented his country at Under-18, Under-19, and Under-21 levels.
