Journalist claims Tottenham could acquire ‘elite’ player at a bargain price

Tottenham Hotspur continues its search for a new striker.

Since selling Harry Kane last year, Spurs have been in need of a new striker. With the summer transfer window now open, Tottenham may finally be ready to make their move for a new forward.

Several players have been linked to the club, but one of the most prominent rumors over the past 18 months has been about Jonathan David.

The Lille striker has been frequently associated with Tottenham, and on the London is Blue Podcast, Ben Jacobs claimed that Spurs are a team to watch, stating that David is available for a bargain fee.

Tottenham remains a contender for Jonathan David

Jacobs shared his insights about the ‘elite’ striker.

“As far as strikers are concerned, the most experienced name with pedigree at the moment is Jonathan David, who is available at a steal,” Jacobs said.

“I’d keep an eye on Spurs as well, and I’m told that Lille will accept well under £30m, around €30m instead of pounds, so about £25m. Chelsea could also be one to watch.”

David would be an excellent signing

At just £25m, David would be a fantastic signing for any Premier League team.

The Canadian could be an asset for any team in the country, whether as a star at a mid-table club, a starter for a team like Tottenham, or a rotation option for one of the title contenders.

£25m is not a significant fee in today’s market, and at just 24 years old, David has plenty of room for improvement and could provide substantial sell-on value.

Spurs would be wise to secure David for that fee, and as Jacobs notes, a £25m move for the North American would be an absolute steal.
