Report: West Ham Remain Hopeful for New Transfer as Player Prepares to Move

West Ham United Confident in Securing Summer Transfer for Juventus Star Matias Soule, Reports Gazzetta dello Sport

The newspaper reported on 17 July that despite interest from clubs such as Roma and Leicester, West Ham United still believe they can secure a move. Matias Soule is also said to be ready for the next step in his career, with his suitcase “in hand.”

Julen Lopetegui is clearly seeking new attacking talent this summer. The Spaniard has started to reinforce his team and has already added attacker Luis Guilherme [The Athletic, 13 June].

Both Danny Ings and Michail Antonio underperformed last season, and given West Ham’s track record with strikers, adding another winger seems like the best option. Soule’s versatility, allowing him to play across the front three, would be key for West Ham. His addition would enable himself, Mohammed Kudus, or Jarrod Bowen to move centrally next season.

Kudus and Bowen carried David Moyes’ attack last season, and with Bowen likely to stay [Graeme Bailey, 9 July], adding Soule is a logical choice.

The 2024/25 season has already been full of changes for West Ham, with more expected. This could be the year the Hammers return to European football.
