Newcastle United Could Be Involved in Potential Swap-Like Deal with Juventus This Summer

Newcastle United Expected to Spend Big in Summer Transfer Window to Strengthen Squad Depth

Newcastle United are prioritizing key positions that urgently need reinforcement, particularly a right winger and a right-sided defender to support—and eventually replace—Fabian Schär, who recently signed a contract extension.

While additional squad depth in other areas would be welcome, these are the roles that need immediate attention.

The Magpies have continued monitoring Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen, though both would come with hefty price tags.

Now, according to The Chronicle, Newcastle may shift focus to Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, a player they’ve previously shown interest in.

Juventus are currently facing financial pressure and may be forced to sell players.

Newcastle are reportedly hoping a £20 million bid will be enough to secure Gatti’s services.

Interestingly, that amount matches what Juventus are expected to pay Newcastle for the permanent signing of Lloyd Kelly, who is currently on loan.

Effectively, this could become a straight swap—Juve keep the money, and Newcastle land Gatti.

The 26-year-old Italian international has been a consistent presence in Juventus’ back line, amassing 103 appearances since joining in 2022.

His experience and quality could significantly bolster Newcastle’s defence.

There’s also a belief that Sandro Tonali, currently with Newcastle and a fellow Italian, could help convince Gatti to make the move to Tyneside.

While the deal could benefit both clubs, Newcastle would undoubtedly be getting the better value if they can land a regular Juventus starter for just £20 million.
