Randal Kolo Muani made an impressive start at Juventus after moving to Turin in January, scoring five goals in his first three matches.
However, his form has since declined, and he is struggling to find the net.
Before his loan move, he had a disappointing spell at Paris Saint-Germain, managing just two goals and one assist in 14 games.
His overall struggles in front of goal led PSG to seek opportunities to offload him at the start of the year.
Juventus’ loan agreement for Kolo Muani does not include an option or obligation to buy.
According to Calciomercato, if he fails to regain his scoring touch, Juventus will not pursue a permanent deal.
Now, Newcastle United have been linked with a summer move for the French forward, but only if Alexander Isak departs.
This familiar narrative seems to suggest that Newcastle can only pursue a top striker if they sell their current one.
Given Kolo Muani’s struggles this season, it raises the question of whether he would even be suitable as a backup, let alone a replacement for Isak.
PSG paid a hefty £76 million for Kolo Muani in September 2023, but he failed to live up to expectations, registering just six goals and five assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances.
This return is underwhelming for a forward who cost nearly £80 million.
His move to PSG followed a standout season at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga matches, attracting interest from several top clubs, including Newcastle.
There is still a possibility that Kolo Muani could rediscover his best form at the right club, but at the moment, he appears to be a significant risk.
Given Newcastle’s ambitions, he does not seem like the ideal option, especially if Isak remains at the club— which, of course, is the preferred outcome.
