Turkish reports suggest Newcastle United have secured the signing of a promising Super Lig teenager.
Newcastle United have reportedly finalized the signing of 18-year-old Turkish talent Baran Yildiz from Genclerbirligi, according to the club’s general manager.
Although Newcastle has yet to officially confirm the transfer, their interest in Yildiz intensified last Friday before the deadline.
The club views him as a promising prospect who could eventually impact the senior squad.
Genclerbirligi’s GM, Ali Ekber Düzgün, told Turkish media: “Baran Yildiz’s transfer to Newcastle United has been completed, with official signatures in place.
This is a significant achievement for both our club and the player. I hope he follows in the footsteps of Arda Güler and represents Genclerbirligi well abroad. We wish him success in his career.”
Newcastle has offered Yildiz a contract until 2029, with the club eager to secure his signature over the weekend.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell has collaborated closely with Academy staff to finalize the deal.
Genclerbirligi believes Yildiz’s move to the Premier League will strengthen their financial position, citing Real Madrid and Turkey star Arda Güler as an example of their successful development system.
Turkish reports suggest the transfer fee could reach £2.5 million. While Newcastle made no senior signings this window, they remain active in recruiting young talents.
The Magpies recently signed Irish prospect Kyle Fitzgerald from Galway, and Yildiz could soon follow.
