Ipswich, however, face potential relegation, which could be mathematically confirmed depending on the outcome of this match.

Despite their precarious position, one of the few positives for Ipswich this season has been the consistent performances of striker Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old forward has found the net 12 times in 31 league outings, offering a bright spark in an otherwise bleak campaign.

He missed the previous fixture against Newcastle due to suspension—a match that ended in a 4-0 win for the Magpies, highlighted by a hat-trick from Alexander Isak and a goal from Jacob Murphy.

With Ipswich’s relegation now highly probable, attention is turning to Delap’s future.

The young striker reportedly has a £30 million release clause that becomes active should Ipswich drop out of the top flight.

While Manchester United are said to be leading the race, former club Manchester City still have a 20% sell-on clause, having transferred Delap to Ipswich last summer.

Newcastle are likely to explore new attacking options this summer to support and challenge Alexander Isak, and Saturday’s match offers a timely opportunity for the coaching staff to see Delap in action up close.

Head coach Eddie Howe shared his thoughts on the young forward, commenting: “He’s a key player for them—no doubt about it.

He’s had a strong season, very physical, and a powerful runner. He clearly knows how to find the back of the net and has always shown significant potential.”
