Ryan Taylor reports on page 64 of the print edition [21 July] that Gomez might achieve his dream Premier League move after representing Paraguay at the Olympic Games.
Inter Miami will only entertain offers exceeding £15m for the 21-year-old, who has excelled since joining from Libertad. Brighton & Hove Albion is also reportedly interested in him.
Despite West Ham’s strong interest, they have not yet made a formal offer to David Beckham’s MLS team for Gomez [Ben Jacobs, 20 July].
Gomez’s “dream” is to play in the Premier League, and he is eager to facilitate discussions to secure a move. This could lead to an intriguing transfer battle between West Ham and Brighton, both known for their ambitious and self-sustaining transfer strategies.
