Newcastle Eye Move for Endrick but Face Major Hurdles

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a bold move for Real Madrid striker Endrick this summer, according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central.

The 18-year-old Brazilian, signed by Madrid from Palmeiras for €70m (£61m) in 2022, is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in world football.

Despite scoring seven goals and providing one assist in 37 appearances last season, Endrick struggled for regular starts at Madrid.

With fierce competition from the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Kylian Mbappe, and breakout talent Gonzalo Garcia, his minutes under new boss Xabi Alonso may remain limited.

This has opened the door for Newcastle, who are weighing up alternatives to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Although they’re close to finalising an €80m (£69.5m) deal for the 23-year-old Frenchman—who has reportedly agreed terms and is in Newcastle for a medical—Defensa Central suggests the Magpies are also exploring a €70m (£61m) move for Endrick if the Ekitike deal falls through.

However, a transfer for Endrick appears unlikely. The young striker is reportedly committed to staying at Madrid, convinced he will receive enough opportunities to impress Alonso.

Moreover, Endrick is currently nursing a hamstring injury relapse that could sideline him for up to two months, which complicates any immediate transfer.

French side Marseille have also shown interest, reportedly targeting Endrick for a potential loan deal, according to Brazilian outlet Placar.

Despite Newcastle’s admiration, Madrid seem unlikely to sell their prized asset. Meanwhile, other reports suggest the Premier League side remains focused on securing Ekitike, with his arrival looking imminent.

In other Real Madrid transfer news, the club has reportedly learned Alexis Mac Allister’s stance regarding a move to Bayern Munich.

Liverpool are also said to be preparing a significant offer for Vinicius Junior, while Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is pushing for the signing of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.
