Report: Ruud van Nistelrooy Eyes Manchester United’s ‘Powerful’ Gem for Leicester City

Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Van Nistelrooy joined Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at Manchester United.

When Ten Hag was dismissed, Van Nistelrooy temporarily assumed the role of head coach.

During his brief tenure, he guided the Red Devils to victories over Leicester City in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.

Now managing Leicester City, Van Nistelrooy may leverage the January transfer window to strengthen his squad with talent from Manchester United.

Reports suggest that Van Nistelrooy is keen to secure loan deals for two Manchester United players, although their identities were initially undisclosed.

A recent update from the Daily Mail highlights one of Leicester’s key targets: 17-year-old Harry Amass, a promising left-back.

Amass joined Manchester United’s academy in August 2023, signing from Watford.

In his first season, he made 36 appearances across youth competitions, scoring once and contributing seven assists.

Despite being named on the senior team’s bench five times this season, Amass has yet to make his debut for the Red Devils.

The young defender has drawn comparisons to Luke Shaw, with Danny Webber praising his potential during an MUTV interview in August 2024.

Webber remarked: “He’s shown a lot of promise.

I liken him to Luke Shaw in his style. He’s not massive, but he’s powerful, uses the ball well, and has exciting potential.”

Leicester City’s interest in Amass stems from their need for a specialist left-wing-back, as highlighted by manager Ruben Amorim.

Amass’s skills, however, may present challenges for Leicester, given his limited senior-level experience.

Whether the teenager will move to the King Power Stadium remains uncertain, but his development continues to attract attention from several clubs.
