Next Everton Manager: Former Man Utd and Chelsea Boss Mourinho a ‘Strong Contender’ to Succeed Dyche

Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly emerged as a “strong option” to replace Sean Dyche as Everton’s next head coach, should Dyche be sacked.

Dyche recently addressed the ongoing changes at Everton, stating that his immediate position remains unaffected despite the club’s potential sale to the Friedkin Group.

The announcement, made ten days ago, revealed that the group had reached an agreement to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake in the club, even though John Textor’s Eagle Football Group appeared to be the front-runner.

The news has been met with optimism as the Friedkin Group, which also owns Serie A club AS Roma, now awaits approval from the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority.

This process is expected to be more straightforward compared to the previous bidders, 777 Partners, whose offer had initially been accepted.

Despite these developments, Dyche stated a week ago that his approach to planning for the January transfer window and his own future remains unchanged.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Speaking ahead of Everton’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, Dyche commented on the situation, noting that while the sale brings hope, nothing is finalized yet.

“There’s a long way to go to get everything to a final point, but the early signs look favourable,” Dyche said.

“We’ll have to wait and see, but it certainly seems like a stronger position than in the past.

The club has been on unstable ground for a while, with various opinions on what was, is, and should be.”

He added, “If the deal goes through, I imagine it will bring a sense of stability after a period of ups and downs for several reasons.

From what I’ve heard, the Friedkin Group has done a good job with Roma, though I’m not sure what their strategy or model will be.”

Football Insider has suggested that Mourinho has become a key contender to take over if Dan Friedkin completes his takeover.

Dyche also noted that he had not yet spoken with the potential new owners but expects communication soon.

“It’s not guaranteed they’ll speak to me, but I imagine they will at some point.

I’m waiting for updates on that,” Dyche remarked, as he remains focused on improving Everton’s start to the season, which has yielded four points from six Premier league games.
