West Ham United have reportedly opened preliminary discussions with Real Madrid over the potential signing of Brazilian forward Endrick in the January transfer window, according to football executive Keith Wyness.
The Hammers are exploring an ambitious move to bring the 19-year-old to the London Stadium as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to revitalise his struggling attack ahead of the second half of the season.
Endrick, who joined Real Madrid amid huge fanfare, has yet to feature under new boss Xabi Alonso this term and could be allowed to leave on loan or permanently in January.
Wyness revealed that West Ham’s interest in the Brazilian is currently the strongest among potential suitors, making them frontrunners to secure his signature when the market reopens in two months.
Speaking on the situation, Wyness explained:
“The strange name I’m going to put with Endrick is West Ham.
I’m hearing from very good sources that there is interest and that initial talks are already happening.
West Ham have to make a statement, and this could be a marquee signing to appease the fans and show ambition.
They’re clearly not in a great position right now, so something needs to change. I’m told West Ham could be right at the front of the queue for Endrick.
Whether he agrees to go is another matter, but that’s where the strongest interest lies at the moment.”
It’s not surprising to see West Ham linked with a high-profile attacking target given their lack of goals this season under both Espirito Santo and former manager Graham Potter.
The Hammers have managed just seven goals in nine Premier League games, with experienced strikers Niclas Fullkrug and Callum Wilson scoring only once between them.
With both forwards now in their thirties, a move for Endrick would inject much-needed energy, creativity, and long-term potential into the squad. Beyond his on-field quality, the signing could also provide commercial value for the club.
The “spectacular” young forward, reportedly earning around £90,000 per week, is considered one of the brightest attacking talents in world football.
Despite limited opportunities in Madrid, Endrick has shown flashes of brilliance, scoring seven goals in 37 appearances during his debut season with the Spanish giants.
