Former Leicester winger Matt Piper has now delivered a brutally honest assessment of the squad’s current state as they head into the crucial final stretch of the season.

Leicester ‘Lack Quality’ to Pick Up Points in the Premier League

Speaking on the When You’re Smiling podcast, Piper highlighted Leicester’s inability to turn losses into draws or secure wins in tight games.

He noted that manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has yet to find a solution to the team’s struggles in front of goal.

Reflecting on the Chelsea match, Piper said:

“They should have taken something from the game, but when they get into dangerous positions, they fall short. It’s the same story again.

The counterattacks were promising, but the decision-making in crucial moments let them down.

“Chelsea were poor, and Leicester had an opportunity to capitalize.

While they can be proud of their effort, the reality is that Chelsea are still competing for a Champions League spot, so our performance was impressive in some ways.

“But ultimately, we didn’t get the goal we needed. I’ve said it all season – this team just lacks that extra bit of quality.

They can play well at times, and I respect their efforts, but they don’t have the ability at this level to turn defeats into draws.”

Leicester’s Relegation Fate Seemingly Sealed

With only ten games remaining and Leicester still six points adrift of safety, the growing sentiment is that their return to the Championship is now inevitable.

Club legend Gary Lineker admitted he has lost all hope of Leicester surviving in the top flight following their defeat to Chelsea, a feeling echoed by many supporters.

Leicester’s return to the Premier League has been disastrous, and unless drastic changes are made, their stay in the second tier could last longer than expected.
