"John Wenham Not Surprised by Transfer Fee for Oliver Skipp’s Move from Tottenham to Leicester City"
Lilywhite Rose, the well-known Spurs podcast owner, believes that Oliver Skipp will soon become one of Leicester City’s top players.
Skipp, who recently left Tottenham for Leicester, joined Steve Cooper’s side in a deal worth £20 million plus £5 million in add-ons (as reported by Fabrizio Romano on August 19).
In an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham described the transfer fee as reasonable. He said, “I think Skipp will become a regular at Leicester City.
He needs a team where he can get consistent game time. While I think he’s a decent player and would have been fine as a squad member for us, he’s versatile and reliable.
Given the premium often attached to homegrown players at Spurs, I wasn’t surprised by the fee. I expect him to quickly establish himself as one of Leicester’s best.”
Skipp had spent a lot of time on the bench at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and also had loan stints in the Championship with Norwich City.
This context may have raised some eyebrows regarding the substantial transfer fee.
Nonetheless, at 23, Skipp has shown his quality and will be eager to prove himself and justify his price tag at the King Power Stadium.
