The publication also notes that even if the Hammers were to return with a new offer, Dumfries himself would decline the move.

This stance comes despite the 29-year-old’s current frustration at Inter, where he is believed to be unhappy with his situation.

His contract reportedly includes a £21.8 million release clause, but Dumfries is thought to favour a move to a club competing in European competitions—something West Ham cannot offer at the moment.

Previously linked with Manchester United, the 69-cap Netherlands international could still attract Premier League interest once the window opens.

What seems clear is that Dumfries will not be heading to the London Stadium any time soon. That reality indirectly benefits West Ham’s existing right-back options.

The Inter star is considered one of the world’s most dynamic attacking full-backs, and his output in Italy reflects his quality.

If West Ham had somehow managed to secure his signature, he would almost certainly have walked straight into Nuno’s starting XI.

Instead, current first-choice Aaron Wan-Bissaka and his understudy Kyle Walker-Peters can take comfort from the fact that Dumfries is not entertaining a move to East London.

Wan-Bissaka, in particular, has been outstanding during the 2025/26 campaign and is arguably among West Ham’s most reliable performers, meaning the failure to land Dumfries is far from a major setback for Nuno’s side.
