With two months remaining in the calendar year, Leicester City entered November leading the league, five points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town. However, a challenge awaited in the form of Leeds United.
After Harry Winks’ late winner at Queens Park Rangers, Leicester returned home to face Leeds United, who were also chasing promotion, at King Power Stadium on Friday, November 3. A lone second-half goal from Leeds forward Georginio Rutter secured three points for the Yorkshire club.
Unfortunately for Leicester, their impressive record of just one loss in 14 games turned into three losses in 16, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Middlesborough’s Riverside Stadium a week later. Sam Greenwood’s free-kick found the net with less than 10 minutes remaining, stunning Leicester once more.
Two weeks later, Leicester returned to form with a 2-0 win over Watford at Filbert Way. Jamie Vardy emerged as the hero, scoring two late goals, including an injury-time penalty, to secure the victory for the hosts.
Leicester’s final game of November saw them held to a single point at Hillsborough after a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. Abdul Fatawu put Leicester ahead, but a 93rd-minute equalizer from Jeff Hendrick earned the Owls a crucial point in their survival bid. Although November was less successful compared to previous months, Leicester remained at the top of the table, with Ipswich Town just one point behind.
