Official: West Ham Academy Midfielder Secures Loan Move to New Club

West Ham United Academy Manager Kenny Brown Discusses Decision to Loan Gideon Kodua to Wycombe Wanderers.

The Hammers announced on their official website on August 23 that 19-year-old Gideon Kodua has signed a two-year contract and will be rejoining Wycombe Wanderers for the season on loan.

Academy director Brown explained that the attacking midfielder has been loaned out to gain more first-team experience and aim to become a regular player.

He stated, “After half a season at Wycombe, the goal is for him to establish himself and secure more game time.

Now, he’ll have the opportunity to get even more minutes in the Football League, which he’s more than capable of achieving. We’re confident he’ll have a successful season.

At West Ham, we strive to create the right pathways for our top young talents, and Gideon is definitely one of them.”

West Ham has loaned Gideon Kodua to Wycombe Wanderers.

As an academy graduate, Kodua has progressed through the ranks, even captaining the club to FA Youth Cup success in 2023.

Despite his youth, Kodua has demonstrated leadership qualities that could benefit him at the London Stadium in the future.

This season, Kodua will have another chance to showcase his skills in League One with Wycombe after spending the latter half of the last campaign there.

Though he didn’t score in his ten appearances and faced some challenges, a full season could be just what he needs for further development.

Wycombe clearly values the 19-year-old, evidenced by their decision to bring him back. West Ham also sees potential in their academy product, as shown by the new two-year contract.

Fans are hopeful Kodua will have a strong performance in the third tier and return to East London with valuable experience.
